Rangers 1 Aberdeen 1
The Gers just didn't have enough to take care of a resolute Aberdeen side which is still seeking a first win in Govan for 21 years.
Sone Aluko played his heart out against his former club and was denied in the closing seconds by a stunning Jason Brown save.
Maurice Edu produced a 67th- minute equaliser — four minutes after the outstanding Kari Arnason gave Dons a shock lead — and also missed a peach of a chance.
Jelavic had a header touched onto the bar by Brown and came agonisingly close to reaching crosses driven across the goal.
Take nothing away from Aberdeen. After a first-half lacking in conviction, they dramatically upped their game and Arnason's stunning strike into the far corner from the edge of the box gave them real hope. Keeper Brown and his defenders were solid, while skipper Arnason and Chris Clark gave Gers problems from midfield.
If they'd held onto their lead for a bit longer they may well have been celebrating a historic win.
As it is the Dons still inflicted severe damage on Rangers' title ambitions while at the same time extending their impressive run to just one defeat in eight.

Aberdeen star Rob Milsom out for the season after knee surgery
ABERDEEN boss Craig Brown last night admitted the news Rob Milsom is out for the season has taken some of the shine off his side's battling draw with Rangers at Ibrox.
The midfielder, 25, missed yesterday's 1-1 stalemate after having knee surgery on Friday.
And Brown revealed Milson won't kick a ball again in this campaign.
He said: "His leg was examined and there was more damage than first feared. The surgeon said he won't play again this season so that's a major blow."
Brown thought the Dons might be on course to end their 21-year wait for an Ibrox win when Kari Arnason fired them ahead yesterday.
But Gers levelled through Mo Edu to leave him frustrated.
The Pittodrie gaffer said: "After taking the lead we could have won. It was a piece of brilliance from Kari to place his shot beyond the Rangers and Scotland keeper.
"I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get the win. Rangers equalised then pushed hard for the winner."
Goal hero Arnason admitted he also played a part in Edu's leveller and said: "The ball deflected off my thigh. It was a jammy goal.
"I tried to charge down the shot and it was going straight into the arms of Jason Brown. It was a sloppy one to lose but I was proud of my goal."
Aberdeen take a look at former Rangers midfielder Stephen Hughes
Former Rangers and Scotland star Stephen Hughes will join Aberdeen today on trial as he bids to relaunch his career.
Hughes returned north in November after leaving Norwich but his short-term deal at Motherwell didn't work out.
Pittodrie boss Craig Brown has now offered the midfielder a week to impress in the hope the 29-year-old can ease his injury crisis.
Brown will be without Rob Milson for the rest of the campaign and Isaac Osbourne will be missing for at least another month.
The Dons boss said: "We have lost two midfielders and Hughes is a talented player who is available after his release by Motherwell so we will assess the lad this week."

Rangers 1 - 1 Aberdeen: Maurice Edu spares Rangers blushes as elusive Ibrox win evades Dons
TAKING only their second point from Ibrox in the last six seasons may seem a dubious source of celebration for Aberdeen but the delight expressed by both their players and supporters at full-time on Saturday was fully understandable.
Their 21-year wait for victory in Govan will be extended into the 2012-13 campaign but this was nonetheless a performance and result from Craig Brown's side which provided their followers with considerable gratification.
It always appears mildly insulting to those players selected by a manager when he calls his team "makeshift", but Brown was merely underlining the difficulties he faced without the services of injured first-team regulars Andrew Considine, Rob Milsom, Youl Mawene, Isaac Osbourne and Peter Pawlett when he applied the description to his line-up against Rangers.
It made Aberdeen's contribution to a match badly affected by the wild and wintry weather which at times transformed Ibrox into a giant wind tunnel all the more admirable. For all of the failings displayed by an unimaginative Rangers side now four points behind Celtic in the title race, this was a day from which Aberdeen could take significant encouragement.
With only one defeat in their last eight SPL matches, talk of relegation and Brown's position being under threat has dissipated and Aberdeen can perhaps start to look at forcing their way into the top six of the table rather than over their shoulders.

Rangers 1 Aberdeen 1: Visitors' deserved point highlights scale of salvage operation required at Ibrox
Craig Brown, who revealed that Rob Milsom may miss the rest of the season after knee surgery, was also deprived of the talents of Isaac Osbourne, Peter Pawlett, Youl Mawene and Andrew Considine through injury.
The Aberdeen manager, whose players paid convincing testimony to his powers of organisation, was particularly well served by the competitive and technically adept Arnason, the resilient defensive pairing of Mark Reynolds and Rory McArdle and the interventions of his goalkeeper.
They were necessarily restricted in attack, but the rampaging Josh Magennis provoked some anxiety in the Rangers defence and was the victim of a foul by Bocanegra that could have caused the American to be sent off. His punishment was restricted to a caution, but there was an almost tangible sense of warning for Rangers in the performance and in the inability to prise three points from the fixture.

Talks have stalled with Arnason waiting on an improved offer. But Brown has called on the midfielder to commit to Pittodrie.
Brown's praise for Aberdeen FC's Clark Robertson
Boss hails youngster's display at Ibrox
ABERDEEN FC are hoping Clark Robertson's taming of new Rangers hero Sone Aluko at Ibrox will convince the teenage defender he is good enough to play in the SPL.
Aberdeen FC boss Craig Brown today praised left-back Robertson for the way he shackled former Pittodrie team-mate Aluko in their 1-1 SPL draw in Glasgow.
He was particularly pleased by the way 18-year-old Robertson snuffed out Aluko, who had been earning rave reviews for his performances since signing for Rangers in November.

Kari Arnason goal at Ibrox underlines value to Aberdeen
Aberdeen are waiting to hear whether their midfielder Kari Arnason will remain at Aberdeen when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
The Iceland star scored the Dons' opener in their 1-1 draw at Ibrox and team manager Craig Brown is keen to secure his services on a longer term.
"He has been made a very good offer from Aberdeen and hopefully he will give his decision soon," said Brown.
"I think he will be in demand because you can see his ability."
Arnason moved to Scotland's north-east last summer after leaving Plymouth Argyle and previously played for Vikingur, Djurgarden and Aarhus.
