John Delday Awards 2010/11

From left to right players….Dean Carse, Matthew Wallace, Connor McLennan, Scott Wright, Craig Storie
During the half time interval on Saturday, the John Delday Outstanding Achievement awards were presented to the individual player in each of the AFC Youth Academy teams who has shown over the season to be the best at "creativity", "touch" and "technique". These annual awards were presented on behalf of John Delday Jr by his cousin Graeme Booth.
John Delday was a great supporter of Aberdeen FC especially Youth Development at the club, Giving regular sponsorship to enhance the programme. Sadly John passed away a few years ago, but his son John Delday Jr wanted to continue to honour his name and help the club he loved. His sponsorship is now helping to develop the next generation of creative skilful young players.
Our skills development programme devised by the head of the community programme and skills coach Jim Crawford is the best in the country, his methods have been adopted by the SFA for their skills package. All our youngsters are taught the moves and turns and skills used by the world's best players and are encouraged at an early age to express themselves at training and games.
The more successful clubs are the ones that dominate 1 v 1 situations, hence the technical and tactical skill in 1 v 1 play is the foundation for success at every level. AFC also has a comprehensive skill based coach education course to support and educate all AFC coaches and over the last few months they have attended this specialised course.
